YouthCon Scholarship

Yard Sale Fundraiser
The largest yard sale AASuccess has hosted, selling donated household items to fund 2026 life skills training programs; raised over $700.
BizHarmony
Free networking event connecting students and alumni with professionals from small and large businesses; free entry, limited admission, registration deadline 5/26/2025.
Project Education Camp
Free three-day math and English enrichment camp for underserved 4th–5th graders, run with the Boys & Girls Club; served 6–7 students on a $300 budget.
Go-Green at the Fairfax Earth Day Festival
Go-Green team (6–7 students) ran an eco-activity booth—seed planting, pot decorating, bird feeder painting—at the Fairfax Earth Day Festival.
Pickleball Fundraiser
Afternoon pickleball fundraiser at Dill Dinkers in Manassas to raise awareness and funds for 2025 student projects.
Winter Supply Drive
Collected and delivered about $2,000 worth of supplies to the Second Story Homeless Shelter in Vienna, VA, with support from the Rotary Club and local grocery stores.
Shark Tank Program
Students pitched community project ideas to a panel of “Sharks”; 5 pitches reviewed, 2 selected for 2025: Education Camp and Bridging the Future & BizHarmony.
YouthCon Scholarship
YouthCon 2024: students proposed how to use $300 and modern technology (AI, robotics, CS) for community impact; winners Laura Zhang, Samuel Indyk, Myla Leung.
Road Building Project (“Huyen’s Road”)
“Huyen’s Road”: a 2.2 km road in Long My, Hau Giang, Vietnam serving 70 rural households, $150,000 budget funded by Prow Charities.
Tennis Fundraiser
Tennis tournament fundraiser that raised nearly $2,000; winners Len Tran (upper bracket) and Huyen Le (lower bracket).
AI & Machine Learning Scholarship Program
Teaches underrepresented high schoolers machine learning through AWS DeepRacer and helps them apply for the AWS AI & ML Scholarship.
Healthcare Symposium
One-day symposium with a panel of healthcare professionals on burnout, expectations vs. realities, and fear of failure for students entering healthcare.
Go Green – Trash Rehash
Event to repurpose plastic into eco-bricks and crocheted “plarn”; collected recyclables at the office, targeting 25–30 participants.
YouthCon Scholarship
YouthCon 2023 “Igniting the Spark”: 41 applicants, 10 oral-round finalists; winners Leilani Co, Sofia M’mari, Bhargav Garre Venkata.
Go Green (Plate Your Plant)
Home-gardening awareness project that gave out plants and info kits; 2 events drew 60+ people, followed by the “Plate Your Plant” cooking competition.
YouthCon Scholarship
YouthCon 2022: essay and oral-presentation rounds; first prize $3,000 plus a $200 project budget and a seven-week internship. Winners not posted.
RoVersity Project
Bi-weekly robotics lessons for children in homeless shelters, ending in the “RoVersity Roboball” competition with 9 kids aged 7–11 and 60+ supporters.
Summer Mental Health Conference
Proposed one-day, 4-hour conference on teen mental health organized by high school senior Liem Nguyen, doubling as a promo event for the 2022 Gala.
Winter Mental Health Retreat
Retreat for 12 students to bond and recharge through group discussion, self-care, hiking, bonfire, and games.
Help Bring Food & Medical Supplies to Vietnam
GoFundMe campaign to raise $50,000 for food and medical supplies during Saigon’s 2021 Delta-variant lockdown; $25,000 raised by end of December 2021.
All Hands In Community Project
Three DELTA Success students in Vietnam distributed 30 gift packages to children and families in Di Linh hit hard by COVID-19.
Afghan Refugee Aid Project
Students assembled 5 care packages of household essentials, translated letters, and kids’ art supplies for Afghan refugee families via Lutheran Social Services.
School Supplies to Vietnam
Collected school supplies and $300 for three schools serving ethnic-minority children in Lao Cai, northern Vietnam.
Charity Project to Give Back to Dak Nong
Six DELTA Success students sold recyclables to fund homemade cake, lemonade and gifts for 30+ children in Jun Ju Village, Dak Nong.
Donating to Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation
AASuccess funded $400 of collars, toys and food that student Nancy Cu picked and delivered to the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation.
Fundraiser for Victims of Typhoon Molave
Level 1 student Colby Pham raised $2,080 (with AASuccess matching) for Typhoon Molave victims, used for uniforms and textbooks via Lasan Vietnam.
Toy Drive Winter
Students bought and wrapped holiday gifts for 6 children in need in Takoma, Maryland.
Viet Technology Workshop
Four Work Readiness students in Vietnam ran a workshop on the pros and cons of modern technology for 30+ college peers.
Scrapbook to Encourage Doctors during COVID-19
Two 7th graders made an encouragement scrapbook for healthcare workers and delivered it to a local doctor during COVID-19.

Girl Scout Gold Award project by Deanna Morgan: online weekend tutoring to help Spanish-speaking kids aged 10–12 read and translate a book into English.
Hand Sanitizer for Underserved Community
Two middle schoolers made and gave out 60 bottles of homemade hand sanitizer to the underserved community in Di Linh, Lam Dong.
From the Smallest to the Biggest Things
Two DELTA students in Vietnam sold recyclables, raising 300,000 VND for food and gifts for 3 underserved families (14 people).

Level 1 student Linh Le led weekly art workshops to create and sell artwork, aiming to raise $600 for Art Works Studio School in D.C.

Monthly internal newsletter with updates, project summaries, shout-outs and member interviews, curated by students with a staff mentor.

Ongoing podcast series hosted by rotating member panels; five episodes recorded, three published by mid-2020.
Fundraising for the Koalas
Social-media bingo-board fundraiser that adopted five koalas and donated $360 to WWF Australia’s Bushfire Emergency Fund.
The Period Project
Ashley Rodriguez’s fundraiser against menstrual poverty raised $1,300 to buy hygiene products for six local women’s shelters.
5K Run to Support CASA DC
Charity 5K supporting CASA DC with 11 mentors, mentees and relatives; 6 hours of practice and running.
Winter Giving Back Project
Toy drive for children in need and goodie baskets for mail carriers: 7 baskets and 25+ gifts delivered to a shelter and 5 families.
PenPal Project
Cross-cultural pen pal exchange: 3 U.S. and 5 Vietnamese students swap handwritten letters and meet virtually each month.
YouthCon Scholarship USA
YouthCon 2019: 22 applicants, $200-budget project prompt; winners Ethan Nguyen, Tina Xia, Medeline Krisko; ceremony for 200+ at the Westin Tysons.
YouthCon Vietnam
Vietnam edition of YouthCon: 24 applicants proposed how to use 15 million VND; top awards went to “No worries” and “Happism”.
Computer Bridge
2019 YouthCon winner Ethan Nguyen collects and refurbishes donated computers for underserved families; 7 of a 20-computer goal collected.
Color-A-Smile
50 Lasan Elementary students in Vietnam colored cards with good-luck messages that were sent to senior citizens and veterans in the US.
Halloween Party at Katherine Hanley Shelter
Halloween party with 9+ themed games run by 16 volunteers for 40 children and adults at the Katherine Hanley Family Shelter.
Navy Federal Half Marathon Runraiser
Six mentors and students ran the Navy half marathon and raised $4,000 for the Life Skills Academy.
Project Butterfly
First US–Vietnam student collaboration: US car wash and bake sales raised $600+, and DELTA students delivered $479 of supplies to 28 children at a temple and an orphanage.
Community Library (Brandon Nguyen)
Scout Brandon Nguyen built a 400+ book community library of mostly Vietnamese literature at the AASuccess office, with an online reservation catalog.
YouthCon Scholarship USA
YouthCon 2018: 32 applicants, $11,000 raised; five scholarships awarded including an income-based award; ceremony for 100+ attendees.
